Trigger Warning
Newly released 911 dispatch audio has revealed the terrifying final moments before influencer Sara Gilson died in an apparent murder-suicide. The recording emerged days after Oklahoma police confirmed Gilson’s estranged husband, Jeremiah “Shawn” Duffey, fatally shot her before taking his own life.
A child inside the home made the emergency call. Officers reached the scene just minutes later.
Dispatch audio sheds light on the events leading up to Sara Gilson and Jeremiah ‘Shawn’ Duffey’s deaths
According to PEOPLE, dispatchers received the call at about 11:15 p.m. on July 23. One dispatcher described hearing panic before first responders arrived.
“I’m trying to reach him back, but I could hear a female in the background screaming and crying. Some sort of loud bang in the background,” the dispatcher said in the recording.
Moments later, another dispatcher referenced an earlier investigation involving Duffey. The dispatcher mentioned, “a male that we were looking for a few weeks ago after he got caught kissing a juvenile” before also referring to “a gun.”
Police arrived at the Owasso home around 11:18 p.m. Officers found Gilson, 43, and Duffey, 48, with fatal gunshot wounds. The Owasso Police Department later confirmed Duffey shot Gilson before shooting himself, the outlet reported.
The tragedy came less than two weeks after Gilson publicly accused her estranged husband of being a “pedophile.” On TikTok, she joined a viral trend by pretending to film a Netflix documentary interview.
She wrote, “Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon-to-be ex-husband who I just found out is a pedophile.” Gilson added, “I wish I was joking.”
Court records reviewed by the publication showed Gilson secured an emergency protective order against Duffey on July 10. The order required him to leave the family home and remain at least 100 yards away from her.
The Oklahoman also reported that another protective order had been filed on behalf of a 15-year-old girl from Duffey’s youth basketball team. Court filings alleged he kissed and touched the teenager, sent her messages, invited her to his hotel room during a tournament, and offered her money “to keep her quiet.” Duffey did not publicly respond to those allegations before his death.
Gilson, a hairstylist and TikTok creator, is survived by her two children from a previous relationship.
