Megyn Kelly launched into a nearly 12-minute rant about Michelle Obama on the latest episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show.” She began by saying, “Michelle Obama has been everywhere, trying to build her brand and her very sad little podcast, and she showed up at the Essence Festival and wanted to talk about a number of things: How aggrieved she is, yes, you know that, and also how amazing she is.” Kelly added that being aggrieved and amazing always seem to go hand in hand.
She didn’t stop there, continuing that Michelle believes she is amazing and that people simply don’t understand her.
The host then played a clip featuring Michelle and Keke Palmer. During the interview, the former First Lady recalled that one of her first major speeches in Iowa drew a packed crowd, adding that it generated more attention than the speeches of Barack Obama’s opponents. She said that the more popular she became, the more she was viewed as a threat, which led to an increase in articles about her.
Michelle claimed that she realized people were targeting her because she was “useful.” She also recalled that many articles used to begin with what she was wearing rather than the issues she was discussing. Obama added that she had always been good on the campaign trail and considered herself a strong public speaker.
Reacting to the clip, Kelly said, “Oh my God, she is dripping in narcissism… dripping in it. Would you at least feign some humility? I’m embarrassed for you.” She then added, “You’re actually not that great. You’re fine, but you seem very scripted and artificial to me, if I’m honest.”
