Calvin Klein’s Ex-Wife Shared Painful Memory of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy’s Final Goodbye

Kelly Klein has shared what happened on the last day she saw Carolyn Bessette Kennedy

Kelly, who was married to fashion designer Calvin Klein from 1986 to 2006, honored Carolyn’s memory by sharing two photos of her, ahead of the 27th anniversary of her death on July 16, 1999. She was 33 at the time of her tragic death.

She shared two candid photos of Carolyn on Instagram on July 15. One shows Carolyn in Paris wearing a white button-down shirt with her natural hair, while the other captures her during a Calvin Klein fitting in a pastel yellow dress with white lace.

The caption read, “I didn’t know today would [be] the last day I saw you! If you only knew what was going on down here! You have influenced so many of our young generation in only the most positive ways! Simple, elegant, minimal style! Just you and your natural being. Rest in peace Carolyn! You are greatly missed!”

Kelly grew close to Carolyn while working with Calvin Klein, where Carolyn worked until 1992 before marrying JFK Jr, reports People. Kelly joined Calvin Klein as an assistant designer in 1981, after holding a similar position at Ralph Lauren. Elizabeth Beller, author of the 2024 book Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, wrote that Carolyn and Kelly grew close in the 1990s and that they and their husbands often attended events and galas together, according to another report by People.
