Wes Anderson and Luke Wilson were trapped in an Academy Museum elevator before Los Angeles firefighters safely freed them
According to TMZ, Monday night was not a good one for Wes Anderson and Luke Wilson. The duo was attending the sold-out 30th anniversary screening of Wes’ debut feature, “Bottle Rocket,” which starred Luke and Owen Wilson. The trio stayed back for a Q&A and then headed back to their cars. However, things did not go as planned, and they ended up trapped in the elevator.
The LAFD told TMZ that they responded to a call for a stuck elevator at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures at 7:49 PM. The duo was trapped in the elevator for less than an hour. Watch the video above shared by production specialist Carolyn Dunn, which shows Wes Anderson, Luke Wilson, director James L. Brooks, and at least three others being freed from the elevator, surrounded by LAFD personnel. The LAFD confirmed the reason as too much weight on the elevator.
While being stuck in an elevator can be an unsettling experience, celebrity elevator mishaps are not uncommon. Over the years, several public figures have found themselves temporarily trapped in elevators at hotels, award venues, and office buildings, often documenting the experience with humor on social media once they were safely rescued.
For fans celebrating the enduring legacy of Bottle Rocket, the unexpected rescue became an unusual final chapter to a night dedicated to revisiting the film that launched one of Hollywood’s most distinctive creative partnerships.
