Ex-Prince Andrew’s Pizza Express Alibi Faces Fresh Questions After Internal Inquiry

Trigger Warning: This article includes discussion of alleged sexual assault, with details.

Pizza Express conducted an internal inquiry into ex-Prince Andrew’s visit to its Woking branch. As per the reports, the former prince’s visit to the branch was tied to an alibi he provided in response to allegations connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Pizza Express reportedly found no evidence confirming ex-Prince Andrew’s claimed visit to its restaurant

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor said in his 2019 Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis that he had been at the Surrey branch on March 10, 2001, when he was accused of sleeping with Virginia Giuffre, one of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims, reports BBC. He stated that on that day, he took his daughter, Princess Beatrice, to a Pizza Express party in Woking at about 4 or 5 pm, and later spent the night at home.

Giuffre, who was recruited by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, alleged she was raped, not once but three times, by the former prince when she was a minor. She filed a federal lawsuit against Andrew in 2021, accusing him of sexually abusing her when she was 17. In April 2025, she died by suicide, reports ABC.

The restaurant chain’s senior management investigated the alibi given by the then-Duke of York in the interview. The inquiry reportedly included former employees, though the manager is believed to have left the chain, reports the Mirror. Additionally, it concluded there was no evidence that Andrew visited the restaurant, nor any evidence that he did not.

In January 2026, the US Justice Department released multiple photographs from the Epstein files. One appeared to show the former Duke of York kneeling on all fours over a female lying on the ground, as per another report by the BBC. Andrew, who was stripped of his titles last year over his ties to Epstein, was arrested in February 2026. It marked the first time the former prince was arrested over his links to Epstein, but he was soon released. He denies all allegations.
