Reality TV friendships don’t always survive after the cameras stop rolling. Holly Madison is now revealing why her relationship with former “Girls Next Door” co-star Kendra Wilkinson quietly fell apart more than a decade ago.
The former “Playboy” star looked back on the fallout and admitted the pair still aren’t in contact. While Madison said she isn’t closing the door on a future reconciliation, she also pointed to behind-the-scenes drama that she believes permanently changed their friendship.
Holly Madison described the events she believes permanently changed her relationship with Kendra Wilkinson
“Kendra and I don’t speak, but I’m not opposed to speaking,” Madison said during her appearance on E!’s Hot Goss. She explained that their friendship didn’t unravel while filming “The Girls Next Door.” Instead, the issues surfaced after the series ended, when both women launched separate reality TV careers.
According to Madison, working on competing spinoffs with the same producer complicated things. “It was stuff that had to do with our spin-offs, and working with the same producer. I really feel like he tried to pit us against each other and got in our heads. So, that’s a shame,” she said.
The tension only deepened when Wilkinson publicly claimed on Kendra on Top that the two “were never friends,” saying they had simply “f—ed the same man,” as previously reported by HuffPost.
Madison admitted that the comment caught her off guard because it didn’t reflect how she remembered their years together. While she acknowledged she was always closer to Bridget Marquardt, she still considered Wilkinson a friend.
“We were never as close, obviously, as me and Bridget. We don’t have much in common, but we shared a lot of experiences and had a lot of good times together, so I never thought of her as not a friend,” Madison explained on Hot Goss.
Looking back, Madison believes the media frenzy surrounding reality stars at the time played a major role. “At the time, she was really caught up in the tabloid cycle. If her thing to get in the tabloids that week was a rift with someone, then she was going to say it,” she said.
Despite the rocky history, Madison doesn’t sound interested in keeping old wounds alive. She said it “would be nice to be on good terms,” though she isn’t sure where Wilkinson stands today.
The former “Girls Next Door” roommates have taken very different paths since leaving the Playboy Mansion. Madison continues hosting podcasts with Bridget Marquardt and revisiting their reality TV years, while Wilkinson has largely stepped away from the spotlight to focus on real estate.
