The actress recently posted an Instagram post mourning her co-star Daveigh Chase’s death. She penned an emotional note for her while highlighting the challenges of child actors. Her post came at a time when Busfield recently surrendered to court after a warrant for a child sex crime case.
She added in her caption, “Child stardom, in itself, is not a guarantee of dysfunction. However, when a parent or parents lose sight of who THEY are, of what their true responsibility is, and their lives revolve solely around their little star child, well, that’s where the trouble begins. It takes strong parenting to handle all that comes with it. The terrible part is that so few child actors continue on to have careers as actors. For most, it goes away, and when that happens, it not only devastates the child, but it turns the whole family upside down.”
According to the Daily Mail, Chase died after suffering from AIDS and chronic polysubstance use. She was living on the streets before she died.
Soon after her post, many people were able to resonate with her heartfelt emotions. However, many criticised her post about child actors when her Busfield is facing accusations.
One Instagram user wrote, “ Aren’t you dealing with a legal situation now where people supposedly rushed to judgment? There are a lot of people who think your husband is a bad guy based on what some people have said, and yet you’re standing by him, so let’s rethink your post a bit.”
Another added, “You should keep your own house clear, tone deaf.”
One user wrote, “Ironic that a woman has been supportive of a husband that is facing felony charges of criminal sexual contact with a minor and child abuse and not for the first time, is pointing fingers at this woman’s parents for contributing to her downfall.”
The Little House on the Prairie actress has not responded to the criticism, but her post continues to gain traction. Her post has sparked criticism amid the separate allegations involving her husband.
