Influencer Kate Cassidy revealed that the breakup with her ex-boyfriend, whom she nicknamed “Joe,” can be blamed on the fact that she couldn’t stop comparing him to the late One Direction singer Liam Payne – a habit that placed too much strain on the relationship and caused it to fall apart.
Cassidy described her recently ex-boyfriend as sweet and having many of the qualities she looked for in men, making her breakup especially unfortunate.

As reported by E News, commenting on the hurt she feels at the decay of the relationship, Cassidy said in a recent TikTok video, “Dating after losing somebody that you genuinely thought you were gonna spend the rest of your life with is really tough,” adding, “because I physically look for Liam in every single guy that I meet.”
Cassidy admitted that she was unconsciously measuring every new relationship against the one she had with Liam Payne.
Cassidy graciously gave credit where it was due, saying, “Joe was really sweet, and I feel like he was kind of like a lot of things that I wanted in a guy,” she said, adding, “He’s super low-key, so he doesn’t have any social media, which I actually really liked. I met his family. He took me on trips. Things were going really well, really quick.”
According to Cassidy, those constant comparisons eventually became too much for her new partner. She revealed that he texted her saying they should “go our separate ways because it’s just too much,” a decision she said she understood.
Cassidy dated former One Direction star Payne for nearly two years before his tragic death in October 2024. Since then, she has spoken openly about grieving the loss of someone she once envisioned building a future with.
