Donald Trump Accused of Taking White House Gold Items for Personal Bedroom Makeover

Donald Trump’s latest reported White House project has nothing to do with policy and everything to do with interior design. A new book claims the president became locked in a decorating battle with his wife, Melania Trump, shortly after returning to the White House, with gold accents reportedly becoming the center of the dispute.

The allegations come from “Regime Change,” an upcoming book by New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan. According to the authors, the First Couple’s living arrangements sparked an unusual competition over who would have the more impressive private quarters.

According to excerpts from the book, Melania occupies the traditional White House master suite while Donald Trump uses the room next door, identified on White House maps as the “second-floor living room.”

What might have been a simple arrangement allegedly turned into a decorating rivalry.

As per RadarOnline, Haberman and Swan claim that “items were spirited from the second-floor corridor into the President’s bedroom,” adding that Trump sometimes personally carried decorative objects into his room and rearranged them himself.

The authors allege that staff members attempted to remind Trump that some of the items belonged to spaces his wife had specifically chosen. However, according to the book, “he made clear he didn’t care.” The writers further claimed that Trump “seemed almost to be competing with her — determined to have the better room.”

The reported décor dispute apparently created headaches for White House staffers, who were allegedly tasked with replacing missing furniture and seeking Melania’s approval before she noticed changes to shared spaces.

The book also includes several other claims about Trump’s preferences inside the White House. Among them is an assertion that he insisted on having carpet installed in his private bathroom. Haberman and Swan write that the area near the shower was often soaked, prompting staff to place additional pieces of carpet over the affected section.

Elsewhere, the authors allege that staff members regularly dealt with evidence of the president’s late-night snacking habits, including discarded potato chip bags, ice cream cartons, and coffee wrappers.

The book further claims that Melania expressed concerns about some of Trump’s larger White House plans, including the scale of a proposed ballroom project. According to the authors, the First Lady preferred “a quiet environment with minimal disturbances” and worried about living in what could become “a construction zone.”

Neither Donald Trump nor Melania Trump has publicly responded to the book’s claims.
