Larry David Says Barack Obama Delivered Best Joke in New HBO Series

Former POTUS Barack Obama has shared a humorous take on working with comedian Larry David in a teaser for their upcoming HBO sketch comedy series Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness. Obama noted in a viral clip that working with Larry David was impossible, even more challenging than negotiating with the world’s toughest leaders.

The clip showing Obama and the grumpy “Curb Your Enthusiasm” actor in an unlikely pairing garnered immediate attention. Obama serves as executive producer for the new series through Higher Ground Productions, founded by the former president and his wife, Michelle Obama.

Barack Obama’s cameo in Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness revealed a hilarious joke by the former POTUS

Obama is seen in an honest repartee with the legendary comedian, where he expresses that negotiating with David was akin to engaging in important verbal battles with some of the world’s most influential head honchos. Though David and Obama don’t deal with each other on a regular basis, every instance of their communication has been challenging.

The comedian suddenly appears in the frame, creating the awkward atmosphere that has become part of his signature style. The joke takes on a mock-serious tone when David asks Obama to be his emergency contact, claiming the former president’s name would add importance and possibly help get quicker responses from doctors. Obama appears frustrated by the exchange and questions whether anyone actually likes David before giving in and responding, “The answer is no, Larry.”

David asks Obama whether he should ask Michelle instead, to which Obama deadpans, “Good luck with that,” before telling viewers, “You see what I’m dealing with here? Impossible.”

David revealed the interaction while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote the HBO comedy sketch series. He explained that Obama’s production company approached him for the project, which features the former president in a cameo role.
