Sydney Sweeney Responds to Euphoria Cast Feud Rumors

Sydney Sweeney set the record straight about the long-running rumors surrounding the “Euphoria” cast. Following the HBO drama’s final season, the actress addressed speculation that behind-the-scenes tensions and scheduling conflicts contributed to the show’s years-long delays.

If social media is to be believed, the cast of “Euphoria” spent the last few years dodging each other while juggling increasingly packed Hollywood calendars. According to Sydney, though, that version of events couldn’t be further from the truth.

Speaking with Vanity Fair, the “Anyone But You” star pushed back on claims that cast drama played a role in the production challenges surrounding Euphoria’s third and final season.

“We all grew up together on this show,” Sydney said. “It’s honestly crazy to watch how much social media and the press spin things.”

Rumors about friction among cast members, including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, and Alexa Demie, circulated for years as fans tried to make sense of the lengthy gap between Seasons 2 and 3. Many also speculated that the cast’s skyrocketing careers made it difficult to get everyone back together.

Sydney says that’s simply not how it worked. The actress explained that the cast was contractually obligated to prioritize “Euphoria” over other projects. In industry terms, they were all in “first position” with HBO, meaning filming the series came before any competing work commitments.

“My schedule doesn’t affect the show,” she said, adding that it was “funny” watching people create narratives around production delays.

Others connected to the show have echoed similar sentiments. Jessica Blair Herman, who appeared in the series, previously stated there was “no drama” among the cast and described the set as a professional environment where everyone was focused on the work.

That doesn’t mean the production was without challenges. Creator Sam Levinson previously cited the Hollywood strikes, scheduling logistics, and the heartbreaking death of cast member Angus Cloud as major factors behind the delays.

Despite the rumors, Sydney seems ready to close the book on the speculation.
