Legendary singer Prince‘s legacy continues to live on with the upcoming release of “Timeless,” an album featuring 10 unreleased songs from the legendary singer’s Vault at Paisley Park.
The announcement coincides with Prince Celebration Week, which will be celebrated from June 1 to 7, as proclaimed by Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. The sky will turn purple on June 6, as a tribute to the iconic “Purple Rain” track.
Prince’s estate will be releasing a 10-track collection called “Timeless” with unreleased songs
“Timeless” will feature tracks from the artist’s life from 1977 to his death in 2016. It will be released with Sony’s Legacy Recordings and is slated to arrive on August 28, 2026. Some tracks in the much-anticipated album are “I Am You” (1977), “Tick Tick Bang” (1982), and “Heaven” (1985).
Prince’s estate dropped a preview of the album with the release of “With This Year” on April 2, which is essentially a solo. The album is part of the estate’s reissue series that features a vast collection of unreleased recordings by the artist. Moreover, Prince was a musician who recorded much more than he released – a philosophy he summed up by saying, “I don’t think about records. I just make music.”
The famous “Vault” is reportedly full of unreleased records, leaving the estate to carefully curate and release songs. However, a creative tension follows the posthumous releases, since it is unknown whether Prince wanted the public to hear his unreleased tracks. The tussle between availability and access is a delicate one, which the estate handles mindfully.
Prince was one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, blending funk, rock, pop, R&B, and soul while producing classic albums such as Purple Rain, 1999, and Sign o’ the Times. His legacy endures as an inspiration to the current crop of musical stars, including Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, and The Weeknd.
