Spencer Pratt took aim at Bill Maher’s marijuana habits during a recent podcast appearance. “The Hills” alum reportedly joked that the longtime comedian could find himself in trouble if Pratt wins his bid to become the next LA mayor.
The reality TV veteran appeared on Bill’s “Club Random” podcast on June 1, where the conversation drifted from politics to pot smoking. While discussing his campaign against incumbent Mayor Karen Bass and City Councilwoman Nithya Raman, Spencer made it clear that public safety remained at the center of his platform.
Bill Maher would get popped for smoking weed around kids if Spencer Pratt becomes mayor of LA
“I care about safety, the lights being on, and potholes. What a mayor should care about,” Spencer said, according to RadarOnline. That prompted Bill to hold up a rolled blunt and jokingly reply, “Pot.”
Spencer didn’t miss a beat. He reportedly told Bill that smoking marijuana around children would be one of the behaviors he’d crack down on if elected. “I don’t want you smoking in front of kids at the park,” Spencer said before joking that he’d be coming after the HBO host if he lit up near a playground.
The former reality star argued that Los Angeles had become too lenient when it came to public drug use. Even though marijuana is legal in California, Spencer suggested there should still be limits when children are present.
“You know, no more drugs around kids at parks, in schools, in front of daycares,” he reportedly said. “We need to have a society of consequences again.”
Spencer also reflected on growing up in Los Angeles, claiming he never imagined public marijuana use around young children would become commonplace.
Despite the playful threat, Bill appeared impressed by Spencer’s campaign message. The comedian reportedly praised his frustration with city politics and called his approach “authentic.”
“I mean, on so many of these things, you have the exact right impatience with this,” Bill said.
While Bill stopped short of endorsing Spencer, the aspiring politician has reportedly received support from several high-profile names, including Paris Hilton, Joe Rogan, Katharine McPhee, David Foster, and Brody Jenner.
