Gayle King recently addressed renewed attention surrounding her ex-husband’s past infidelity and the apology that followed. While she spoke candidly about healing and moving forward, she was noticeably more guarded when asked about her current romantic life. Instead of offering details, the veteran broadcaster responded with humor, leaving fans curious about what may (or may not) be happening behind the scenes.
Gayle King coyly avoids dating life question in new interview
Gayle King is opening up about the past while keeping the present a mystery. The “CBS Mornings” co-host recently stopped to chat with TMZ in New York after comments she made about her former marriage resurfaced in headlines.
During the exchange, she addressed a public apology issued by her ex-husband, William Bumpus, following renewed discussion of an affair that contributed to the end of their marriage decades ago. King said she “appreciated” his remarks and acknowledged that the experience was a “painful” one. However, she emphasized that both of them have long since moved forward.
“People need to understand that anybody who’s been through it knows how painful it is,” King said. At the same time, she added that it is possible to come through the experience “on the other side.” She explained that she felt comfortable discussing the situation publicly because both she and Bumpus have “healed” over time.
While much of the attention focused on the past, the interview eventually turned to King’s present-day love life. When asked whether she is “actively dating,” King appeared to avoid giving a direct answer. Instead, she jokingly referenced RAYE and her song “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!”. The playful response suggested she was not interested in revealing too much, even as she hinted that romance remains on her radar.
The exchange comes shortly after King revisited details of her marriage during her recent “Call Her Daddy” appearance. In that conversation, she alleged that she eventually discovered her husband’s affair after initially dismissing concerns that something was wrong. The story sparked widespread online discussion and led Bumpus to issue a statement expressing regret for the hurt caused to King and their family.
