Why Authorities Believe Nancy Guthrie Might Have Known Her Attacker

The abduction case of Nancy Guthrie has a new update. A former law enforcement officer has doubts about whether money was the main reason behind the alleged kidnapping. He asked, “If this truly was a celebrity-targeted kidnapping connected directly to Savannah Guthrie, why has there been no meaningful ransom communication?”

Retired police officer Charles Brewer shares his thoughts on the motivation behind Nancy’s abduction

In a video named Nancy Guthrie Case: We May Have Been Looking At The Wrong Person, the former officer Charles Brewer questioned, “Why leave over a million dollars untouched? Why create ransom-style messages that reportedly make little sense? Why no sustained negotiations or proof of life, no sophisticated extortion strategy?”

He stated, “Because if somebody kidnaps for money, money usually becomes the priority. But here the behavior feels chaotic, disconnected, even emotionally driven, or possibly connected to something far more personal than the public originally believed.”

In the 21-minute and 27-second video, he expressed that the abductor may be a known individual. He said, “Listen, if the public, including myself, was comfortable enough early on in discussing whether this crime was connected to Savannah Guthrie’s fame, her wealth, and public visibility, then it is equally reasonable to ask whether this case may somehow connect to someone else inside Nancy’s immediate world,” and further added, “Not necessarily family directly, but maybe somebody connected to them like a friend, an associate, maybe a business relationship, or what about a debt? A dangerous person orbiting somewhere close to this family that nobody fully recognized at the time, because after more than 100 days, something still feels off. Something still feels untouched.”

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said on February 16, as reported by Today, “The family has been nothing but cooperative and gracious and are victims in this case. To suggest otherwise is not only wrong, it is also cruel. The Guthrie family is a victim, plain and simple.”

The 84-year-old mother of television journalist Savannah Guthrie was last seen on the night of January 31 after arriving home from dining with family in the Catalina Foothills near Tucson, Arizona. No suspect has been identified yet.
