Imagine then all the messages being silently spoken to strangers day in, day out in the madness that is our morning and evening commutes to and from work. Artists Bebe Miller and Darrell Jones, in partnership with Velocity Dance Center, will present a public performance at the historic Union Station to illustrated the idea that choreography is always everywhere.

Flora Wiegmann | Halo of Consciousness

Over a century ago, back in 1910, Culte Antoiniste, a new European religion was founded. Combining elements of Catholicism, reincarnation, the tolerance of other faiths, healing through simple rites and rituals, and the transcendence of intelligence towards consciousness, Antoinism is an entirely new path within the tradition of Western religion. LA-based choreographer Flora Wiegmann has choreographed Halo of Consciousness, which she and dancer Rebecca Bruno, will perform, exploring ideas of dance and consciousness through the lens of Antoinism.

Thursday, August 4 – Sunday, August 7 | Fair Hours

Location: CenturyLink Field Event Center

Back in the days, before the Internet took over our lives, there was a small but influential movement of D.I.Y. media made for public access television. To call it “new” would be an understatement. It was so fresh and unexpected many times it could make your head spin. In celebration of these early years of self-made media, Los Angeles-based project space and journal Public Fiction presents an installation of early video art for public access television. A concurrent program of a.public.fiction.announcement.(PFA): A Witness and A Weapon will be held at The Henry Art Gallery.

Adam McEwen | Blue Gene 1 and Blue Gene 2

Location: CenturyLink Field Event Center

In a nod to Tony Smith and Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey , artist Adam McEwen presents replicas of the exterior of IBM’s supercomputer (Blue Gene 1 and 2), a conversation that grows increasingly important in the digital age. Ewen’s larger than life monoliths, meticulously recreated in graphite, continue McEwen’s on-going exploration of people vehicles, and information through controlled channels.
