Rosario Dawson Signs on To Marvel’s ‘Daredevil’ Series

Rosario Dawson is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel and Netflix have announced that Rosario Dawson has landed a role in “Daredevil,” the upcoming 13 episode series starring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil. Dawson has previously starred in both Sin City movies, Trance, Men in Black II, Seven Pounds, Alexander, The Rundown and Proof. Dawson has also co-created her own comic book, Occult Crimes Taskforce.

Marvel’s description of Dawson’s character deliberately left out her name. The announcement stated that “Dawson will play a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell?s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city.”

The most popular theory among fans is that Dawson is playing Elektra Natchios, a role that was played by Jennifer Garner in the Daredevil feature film. Another strong possibility is that Dawson will portray Karen Page, one of Matt Murdock’s earliest love interests in the Daredevil comics.

Another possibilities for Dawson’s role are Maya Lopez aka Echo, a young woman who has ties to the Kingpin, Wilson Fisk and Kirsten McDuffie, a New York City Assistant District Attorney who is a relatively new addition to the Daredevil comic book.

“Daredevil” is the first of four original series that will be produced by Marvel TV and Netflix. Steven S. DeKnight was recently named the new showrunner of “Daredevil” following the departure of Drew Goddard.

Netflix has slated “Daredevil” for a 2015 premiere and it will begin filming next month in New York City.
