Skrillex Pulls Out Of Stereosonic

Stereosonic lost a headline act as Skrillex announced he will be no longer joining the five-stop Australian tour just days out from its launch in Sydney.

Skrillex was set to perform with German DJ Boys Noize in the side project pairing known as Dog Blood for the duo’s first ever Aussie sets. Instead the festival was left down a major attraction with just a handful of days to respond before launching in Perth and Sydney this coming weekend.

The new promotion team behind Skrillex, SFX Totem, said Monday the dubstep artists would “regretfully announce that Dog Blood will no longer be performing at Stereosonic 2013.”

“Due to unfortunate circumstances that are beyond my control, I won’t be able to make the Dog Blood Stereosonic dates this year. For the record, I love the Stereosonic team and the One Love crew who puts on these events and this has nothing to do with them on their side.”

The news comes just 24 hours after Big Day Out headliners Blur withdrew from the January 2014 festival after several mishaps with organisers.

As of yet, the Skrillex announcement shouldn’t affect the 25-year-old’s upcoming performances at smaller festivals Beachlife in Surfer’s Paradise and Harbourlife in Sydney.

Stereosonic organisers have already moved to replace Skrillex, bringing in Miami duo GTA to replace the Dog Blood sets.

The festival will be at capacity (65,000) when it kicks off in Sydney on Saturday, featuring the likes of Nero, Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Empire of the Sun and heaps more.
