Australian Artists Up For Independent Music Awards

Aussie acts Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Jagwar Ma have been nominated for Independent Music Awards.

Jagwar Ma’s rise to fame has seen the band nominated for track of the year for ‘The Throw’ while debut release Howlin’ has also received a nomination for album of the year at the 13th annual Indie Music Awards.

Having quickly become Australia’s hottest export in the UK, Jagwar Ma is coming off a very successful Glastonbury performance after selling out a series of shows back home.

Claiming an award won’t be the easiest of tasks- the duo of Jona Ma and Gab Winterfeld will be competing against the likes of Vampire Weekend, Palma Violets, Passenger, and TNGHT in the best track category and then again against The xxDavid Byrne & St Vincent, Jon Hopkins, Ghostpoet, Public Service Broadcasting, John Grant, and fellow Aussies Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds for best album.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, also part of this year’s Glastonbury, have been nominated for their 15th studio album, Push The Sky Away.

The album is the first independent release of the band’s 30-year career after splitting from famous record label Mute and forming Bad Seed Label.

The AIM Independent Music Awards will be held in London on September 3.
