Motherhood brought some unexpected health challenges for Hailey Bieber. The Rhode founder revealed that she was diagnosed with premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) roughly six months after welcoming her son, Jack Blues, with Justin Bieber.

Hailey, who gave birth to her first son on August 22, 2024, opened up about her diagnosis during a recent interview with Women’s Wear Daily. The 29-year-old model said women’s health is close to her heart, partly because of the struggles her sister and friends face. She revealed that several women in her life deal with conditions such as PCOS and endometriosis.
Hailey also expressed frustration over the lack of research, awareness, and open conversations surrounding women’s health. She added that becoming a mother has made her even more invested in the issue. “That was just a really intense and special journey that I had. There’s so much that happens when you are pregnant, during childbirth. [There are] so many things that happen leading up to having a child,” she expressed.
She then discussed her battle with PMDD. “After I had my son, I struggled with that a bit, and there’s just not a lot of conversation or research around it,” she said. Adding, “Conversation, for me personally, makes me feel less alone.” Hailey believes open conversations about shared experiences and struggles can help women feel less alone.
Hailey has previously discussed her struggles with PMDD. She addressed the diagnosis during a March episode of the SHE MD podcast, where she revealed that the condition was diagnosed about six months after she welcomed her son. She recalled that the days leading up to her period began to feel much more intense than before. Hailey described experiencing overwhelming thoughts and feelings that made her feel as though her entire world was falling apart.
