TMZ reported that Schwarzenegger would play Bobbitt in the second installment of Hulu’s true-crime anthology. Isabela Merced would portray Lorena Bobbitt, John’s former wife, whose case drew worldwide attention after she severed his penis with a kitchen knife while he slept. Bobbitt told TMZ that Schwarzenegger had yet to contact him. He wanted the actor to “authentically” portray him and “follow the facts” of the case.

He offered to provide police reports to help the production present what he considered a fair and balanced account. Bobbitt also said he was considering hiring an entertainment lawyer to contact the producers. He warned that he “may even send the producers a cease and desist” if they fabricated parts of the story. TMZ contacted Schwarzenegger’s representatives for comment but had not received a response at the time of publication.

The incident occurred in 1993 at the couple’s Virginia home. Lorena accused John of marital r*pe and physical ab*se. She drove away with his severed penis and threw it from her car window. Police later found it in a field, and doctors successfully reattached it.

Prosecutors charged John with marital sexual assault, but a jury acquitted him. He continued to deny abusing Lorena. She also faced a malicious wounding charge but was found not guilty by reason of temporary insanity. The court considered evidence of severe physical and sexual ab*se, and she subsequently spent a short period in a psychiatric facility. The case’s controversial history could draw considerable attention to the upcoming Hulu series.
