Donald Trump had an unexpected answer when asked to rank the looks of his top administration officials. The president praised several members but appeared to give Marco Rubio the edge over JD Vance. Trump also gave his take on Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
What Donald Trump said about JD Vance and other administration officials
The unusual question came from New York Post columnist Miranda Devine during an appearance on her Pod Force One podcast. She asked Donald Trump to identify the best-looking person in his administration, telling him to pick among Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
Trump initially singled out Hegseth, describing him as a good-looking man. However, he quickly realized the question could create some awkward moments. “You’re going to get me in big trouble when you ask me those questions,” he told Devine.
He eventually turned his attention to Rubio, 55, and praised both his appearance and professional performance. Trump called the secretary a “great hot politician” and said he had done a great job. Vance received a brief mention afterward, with Trump saying, “JD, the same thing.”
He then added that all four officials were doing well. Bessent also earned a flattering comparison. Trump described the Treasury secretary as someone who looked like he belonged in a movie, saying he would “pick him for the lead,” in a feature about the Treasury Department.
The president’s comments about appearances have surfaced elsewhere during the campaign season. At an Oct. 12 rally in Youngstown, Ohio, he made crude remarks about Sen. Jon Husted’s backside while discussing the lawmaker’s background as an All-American defensive back at the University of Dayton (via The Daily Beast).
Trump’s own appearance also became a talking point. On Sunday, he posted a split-screen image comparing the right side of his face with Elvis Presley’s. He made a similar comparison in February 2024, claiming people had long noticed a resemblance between the two. “For so many years people have been saying that Elvis and I look alike,” Trump wrote.
