Experts believe Meghan Markle’s new MasterChef Australia opportunity could present challenges for her career. The Duchess of Sussex is set to co-host Junior MasterChef Australia. However, public reaction to the move could depend on how she handles the opportunity.
Experts reflect on Meghan Markle’s new career move with MasterChef gig
Meghan Markle is set to co-host Junior MasterChef Australia, with production scheduled to take place in 2027. The role marks her first full-time work with the MasterChef franchise following her guest appearance in early 2026.
However, some experts believe the opportunity could prove risky for Markle’s career. In an interview with the Express, Digital Strategy Ltd. CEO Brian Glicklich criticized what he described as Markle’s approach to her public image.
“Megan Markle has not suffered from a lack of ideas to improve her reputation and popularity. She suffers from poor execution. Her appearances are inauthentic, promotional, and too often appear to have an alternative agenda,” Glicklich said.
Glicklich added that celebrities facing reputation challenges need to understand what went wrong. He added that they need to accept their role in those issues, and work toward presenting themselves more authentically.
“Megan Markle suffers from a likability problem, but just like the rest of us, she needs to start by learning to like herself. Then she can let the world see what she is passionate about when there is nothing to be gained… except self-respect,” Glicklich said.
Another PR and entertainment expert, Lynn Carratt of E20 Communications, offered a more positive assessment of Markle’s new opportunity.
“Meghan’s public image is polarising, so one appearance is unlikely to transform how everyone feels about her. The opportunity is to reach people who have not formed a strong opinion. Particularly through settings where her personality and professional abilities can come through naturally,” Carratt said.
The MasterChef Australia role comes as Markle continues to explore opportunities in the entertainment industry. She has reportedly been reading scripts with streaming platforms. She will work alongside Australian chef and television personality Poh Ling Yeow. Yeow has associations with the MasterChef Australia franchise.
Markle will co-host the show. However, it remains unclear whether her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will join her in Australia.
