According to Entertainment Weekly, DaPron shared the family costumes on Thursday, October 29.
She dressed as Jackie Kennedy, while her husband, Kirk DaPron, portrayed President John F. Kennedy. Their four children also joined the theme.
McCartney, 8, dressed as Caroline Kennedy, while Banks, 2, went as John F. Kennedy Jr. Meanwhile, Monroe, 11, and Truman, 4, portrayed Secret Service agents.
“Happy Halloween ❤️ The Kennedy’s,” DaPron captioned the now-deleted post.
However, the costumes quickly drew criticism. Commenters described them as “distasteful,” particularly because the family recreated the Kennedys’ appearance on November 22, 1963, the day JFK was assassinated in Dallas.
By Saturday, October 31, DaPron had removed the Instagram post. Entertainment Weekly also contacted her representative for comment.
The backlash comes shortly before DaPron makes her reality TV debut. She will join the cast of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County, which expands Hulu’s Mormon Wives franchise.
DaPron will appear alongside Jen Affleck and Bobbi Althoff in the new spinoff.
The series will also feature Aspyn Ovard, Avery Woods, Salomé Andrea, Ashleigh Pease, Jordan McClanahan and Madison Bontempo. Hulu will premiere the show on November 12.
DaPron is not the first celebrity to face criticism over a JFK-related Halloween costume. Julia Fox drew similar backlash in 2025 after dressing as a bloodied Jackie Kennedy.
JFK’s grandson, Jack Schlossberg, condemned Fox’s costume and said it glorified political violence. Fox later defended the look as a statement about grief, trauma and power.
DaPron has not publicly offered a similar explanation. So far, deleting the post appears to be her only response to the backlash.
