Fast & Furious 11, officially titled Fast Forever, has received a “casting” update from Vin Diesel. The 59-year-old took to social media to tell fans the movie is currently in pre-production. Diesel shared a picture, accompanied by the caption, “Pre-production… the casting of cars is always the fun part. Haha.”
The update has fans excited for what the franchise’s next chapter holds. Michael Lesslie is the scribe, while Louis Leterrier, who also directed Fast X, will helm the project. Meanwhile, Neal H. Moritz, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jeff Kirschenbaum, Joe Roth, and Samantha Vincent will serve as producers.
The Fast & Furious franchise is gearing up for its next chapter
Fast Forever will be the final movie in the franchise’s mainline series. However, spin-offs similar to 2019’s Hobbs & Shaw are also in the works.
Vin Diesel previously said he hoped to start filming by the end of 2026. With pre-production underway, it seems the Iron Giant alum might just make that deadline.
Diesel also revealed that he read the script Lesslie wrote. He said, per The Hollywood Reporter, “We went to four different writers, four years in development, and after I read the script, halfway through, one tear. By the end of the script that we crafted and worked so hard to make right for you after four years, I was crying. And I couldn’t hold it back.” Director Leterrier, according to Polygon, however, apparently hasn’t read the script.
Beyond the final movie, reports suggest a slew of other projects set in the same universe are in the works. At least one Fast & Furious TV show is in the works. On the TV expansion, franchise veteran Jordana Brewster said, “I so admire the Taylor Sheridan universe, so I feel like we can really do that with television too.”
The movie hits theaters on March 17, 2028.
