Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato have shared plenty of memories throughout their long friendship. Apparently, one of them involved unexpectedly showing up at someone else’s prom. The singers recently revisited the story while looking through old photos together. They recalled that their careers as young performers had made it difficult to experience a traditional high school milestone themselves.

The story surfaced in a new Rare Beauty video tied to the pair’s “Still Making Each Other Blush” campaign. Gomez and Lovato looked back at a photo from the 2009 Princess Protection Program premiere when Lovato suddenly remembered what happened afterward.
“Do you remember we crashed a prom after that night?” Lovato asked.
Gomez admitted she had “totally forgot” about the adventure.
Lovato recalled spotting a prom nearby after the Toronto premiere. The two decided to join the party because, as young performers, they had missed out on having a traditional prom themselves.
“We wanted to go to prom so we intruded on someone else’s prom,” Gomez joked.
According to People, Lovato had an optimistic take on their uninvited appearance, adding, “I’m sure we made their day.”
The story adds another nostalgic moment to the stars’ recent reunion. Gomez and Lovato recently revived the playful vlog format they used during their Disney years for the Rare Beauty collaboration.
They also recreated their Princess Protection Program promotional pose, bringing a reference to their 2009 Disney era into the campaign.

Lovato eventually had a more conventional prom experience. One year after crashing the event with Gomez, she attended a Dallas prom with longtime friend Nolan Nardecchia.
For Gomez and Lovato, though, their first unofficial prom remains a memorable part of their friendship.
