Kevin Federline is facing another financial dispute. Britney Spears’ ex-husband now faces a lawsuit from City National Bank over more than $117,000 in alleged debt. The filing comes nearly two years after Spears stopped paying child support for their sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James. However, the lawsuit does not allege that the end of those payments caused Federline’s debt.
Kevin Federline sued by City National Bank over credit and overdraft accounts
City National Bank claims Federline owes at least $117,704 across a credit card, personal line of credit and overdraft account, according to Page Six.
According to court documents cited by Page Six, Federline entered into the agreements in late November 2024. That timing roughly coincided with the end of Spears’ child-support payments, although the lawsuit does not link the two events.
The bank claims Federline missed several repayment deadlines. His overdraft balance came due in April 2025, while the personal credit line reached its deadline that June. The credit-card balance became due in August 2026.
City National Bank is also seeking accrued interest. The reported rates include 20.5% on the credit card, 7.5% on the personal credit line and 18% on the overdraft.
Federline’s attorney did not immediately comment on the lawsuit.
Spears previously paid Federline $40,000 per month while he raised their sons in Hawaii. That amount later dropped to $20,000 before the payments ended after Jayden completed high school.
The end of that support has already surfaced in their public disputes. When Federline released his memoir, You Thought You Knew, Spears’ representative noted that the book arrived after his child-support payments had ended.
Federline also addressed the money in his memoir. He claimed that security and maintaining the lifestyle their sons had known could cost more than $40,000 each month.
His financial history also became a point of criticism during the memoir fallout. Spears’ former husband Jason Alexander criticized Federline’s book and pointed to the child support he received.
Spears herself later accused Federline of trying to “profit off my pain” while disputing claims in his memoir.
For now, the $117,704 remains an allegation from the bank, not a court-confirmed judgment. City National Bank is seeking repayment plus interest.
