Olivia Munn’s cancer journey was painful, but also taught her to help other patients. She told PEOPLE exclusively about the vision and mission she was determined to achieve during that tough time. The actor recalled that she found out that she had breast cancer three years ago. “There was such a mountain of fear in front of me,” she said.

With the help of her close friends, Munn coped her fear and started to see the other side after her treatment. She claimed that she wanted to “do so much as I could to help women.” “The day that I first spoke out about it and saw the response, I realized at that point, ‘Oh, this is my mission. This is what I can do in the world.’”

Furthermore, the 46-year-old stated that the new life purpose brought “peace” to her. She found a “clear direction” on what she wanted to work towards in her life. Fortunately, one of her best friends, Arizona senator Mark Kelly, asked her, “Would you like to make some lasting change?”

They teamed up and worked on the bill, Know Your Risk Act, which would help in making risk assessment tools. She told the outlet that she wanted women to be aware of risk assessment tests. “There’s definitely a path to getting this passed, without a doubt. It’s not that controversial, nor should it be,” Munn added.
