Whoopi Goldberg is defending her paycheck from The View. The TV show host says she is well-paid because she does a good job and earns what she is paid, whether everyone agrees with her or not.
Whoopi Goldberg says she earns her money
In an interview with Radar Online, Whoopi Goldberg opened up about her paycheck from The View. Goldberg suggested that the show pays her more than fans might expect.
The 70-year-old said, “That’s really what it is,” she admitted on the show. “I’m well-paid, and I do a good job. I earn my dough, and sometimes people like it, sometimes they don’t. No one is going to pay me guy money to be in a movie. I get what I can, have as good a time as I can, and I don’t really worry about it much.”
Goldberg has previously spoken candidly about her paycheck and earnings from The View. In August, she appeared on the Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast, where she said her “favorite” part of the show is her check. Goldberg said at the time, “You would be shocked. Listen, you would be shocked. As soon as they’d show you that check, you’d be like, ‘What the…?'”
The TV personality has also expressed gratitude for having the job. She has been part of The View since 2007 and is currently in her 20th season on the show. She said, “I look around every day before I leave my house, and I see my family, and I see pictures of folks, and I think, ‘Oh, yeah, it’s good to have a job.’ And I come to work. A lot of people don’t have jobs right now, so I’m lucky. I like to talk, I like talking about stuff, I like people. And I’m okay with what I think, what I believe, and I don’t mind doing that.”
Goldberg joined The View in 2007 and marked her 20th season in 2026. She currently co-hosts the show alongside Behar, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, and Alyssa Farah Griffin.
