Piers Morgan Says Donald Trump’s 5-Day Press Secretary ‘Sounded Like a Robot’

Piers Morgan and Katie Zacharia’s interview quickly turned tense after the broadcaster challenged her over her brief political career. He pressed the former White House press secretary after she repeatedly refused to discuss private conversations with Donald Trump. The exchange came during Morgan’s latest Uncensored episode, where Zacharia defended her loyalty to the president following her five-day tenure in the role. Their back-and-forth has since drawn attention online.

Piers Morgan calls out Katie Zacharia during interview

Piers Morgan and Katie Zacharia’s interview centered heavily on her brief stint in the administration. It focused on her time as White House press secretary, which lasted just five days before she transitioned to another role. Morgan asked Zacharia how she responded when Donald Trump questioned whether the position was the right fit for her. However, she declined to reveal the conversation, saying she keeps private discussions with the president confidential.

The former press secretary repeatedly stressed that she remains “ruthlessly loyal” to Trump. She also argued that media coverage had focused too much on her instead of the administration’s agenda.

Morgan pushed back, reminding Zacharia that the interview was specifically about her experience. As she continued to avoid discussing her conversations with Trump, the broadcaster grew more direct. “Come on, let’s cut the crap here and have a serious genuine conversation,” Morgan said. He then remarked that she “sounded like a robot” and questioned whether Trump had “some program plugged into” her because of her repeated talking points.

Morgan pushed back further, insisting that addressing her brief stint would not be an act of disloyalty, particularly since Trump had ended her time after just five days. Zacharia flatly pushed back against the “robot” label, maintaining that her discretion was a matter of principle rather than a script. She countered that conversations between a president and their senior staff should remain strictly confidential, attempting to steer the dialogue toward policy accomplishments and upcoming midterm election battles. She also claimed the media prevented her from doing her job by making the story about her rather than the president.
