A royal expert shared her thoughts on Meghan Markle‘s camp’s professional relationship with Netflix. She said their public criticism hints at them having severed ties with the streaming giant. She also claimed that there were accusations that Netflix had been exploiting Markle for publicity after Bela Bajaria, who came up with the idea for her lifestyle show, quit the company.
Expert interprets reported criticism of Netflix as a sign of a possible split
Kinsey Schofield told Fox News Digital that she finds it “revealing” that Markle’s camp has now become comfortable with publicly calling out Netflix. “This was one of their most important commercial partners. You don’t typically throw a company under the bus when you’re counting on them to finance your next big project. To me, this is the clearest indication yet that their relationship with Netflix has effectively come to an end,” she added.
She mentioned how Netflix withdrew its investment from Markle’s lifestyle brand, “As Ever.” The expert pointed out on how Bajaria, the former chief content officer at Netflix, was the reason her show, “With Love, Meghan,” came to life. She added that Markle earlier credited Bajaria for recognizing the television potential in her homemade products and also coming up with the show idea.
“Now, after Bajaria’s departure, we’re hearing accusations that Netflix exploited Meghan for publicity,” Schofield added. She further questioned where Markle’s professional relationship with Netflix stands, suggesting that it doesn’t appear “promising.” As a result, according to Schofield, Markle’s camp has seemingly become “comfortable” with criticizing the streaming platform.
These remarks come amid previous rumors about Markle being involved in the production of Netflix’s The Gentleman. However, an insider told The Telegraph that she’s not a part of the series and was perhaps used for publicity. “Some people in her camp feel she was used to help promote season two, because they knew it wasn’t as good as the first season and had already commissioned a third,” one source claimed.
