Kristin admits she was initially nervous around Cynthia on Sex and the City
Kristin Davis, while speaking with guest Jane Leeves on the Are You A Charlotte? Podcast, opened up about her initial days with Cynthia Nixon. She revealed that Nixon’s theater background made her nervous to approach her co-star. Although, the duo became friends later; they did not have a smooth start. Davis revealed she felt intimidated by Nixon when they first met on the set of HBO series Sex and the City.
Davis recalled, “I didn’t talk to her a ton in the beginning. It took me a while.” While Davis initially felt intimidated by Nixon, she had a different experience with her other co-stars, including Sarah Jessica Parker (who played Carrie Bradshaw) and Kim Cattrall (who portrayed Samantha Jones).
Davis said, “Sarah Jessica was really like, ‘Come here, come in my trailer!” She recalled meeting Cattrall in Vancouver before they started filming the show. (via Ok! Magazine)
Leeves, who was a guest on the podcast, shared views about why Davis felt intimidated by Nixon. Leeves said, “I think it’s a weight she carries as an actor. She is committed and very serious about her craft. And you pick up on that, which is magnificent.” Davis added, “I think she’s less like this now than she used to be in a way.”
Before joining the show, Nixon was known for her performances in theater shows like The Real Thing and Hurlyburly. Nixon and Davis appeared on the HBO show Sex and the City from 1998 to 2004 and in two feature films, Sex and the City and Sex and the City 2. Davis played Charlotte York and Nixon played independent lawyer Miranda Hobbes in the franchise.
