Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton are both successful country music stars. However, the former couple has also attracted attention for their high-profile relationship and divorce. Now, Lambert has opened up about their split, revealing how difficult the divorce was for her.
Miranda Lambert admits Blake Shelton divorce was ‘not a fun time’ in new interview
On Tuesday, October 27, Miranda Lambert appeared on Ross Golan’s And the Writer Is… podcast, where she opened up about her career and personal life. During the conversation, the singer reflected on the emotional toll of their divorce.
Lambert said, “I got divorced and that sucks for anyone, especially in the public eye, especially on tour, especially in the middle of a very public career, two of us, you know what I mean? It just was a really not fun time.”
“I, in the meantime, had moved back to Nashville full-time, and so I dove headfirst into songwriting. When I moved back in 2015, I gathered up all of my friends and relationships from, you know, all of the previous years and just used it, used the misery,” she added.
The singer continued, “I used the staying out too late at honky-tonks. I used what I was living and my friends went on that journey with me, friends being songwriters, and I think I wrote 75 songs in, like, a year. I mean, in, like, the first four months I moved back.”
For context, Lambert, 42, and Shelton, 50, finalized their divorce on July 20, 2015. The former couple announced their split in a joint statement after nearly 10 years together, including four years of marriage.
Neither Lambert nor Shelton has publicly provided a definitive explanation for their divorce. Although both have moved on since their divorce, Blake Shelton married fellow singer Gwen Stefani in 2021, while Miranda Lambert married Brendan McLoughlin in 2019.
