According to a royal biographer, the Duchess of Sussex was surprised by the contrast between the brothers’ living arrangements at Kensington Palace. The claims, which stem from Robert Jobson’s book, suggest Meghan believed Harry deserved greater privileges despite the monarchy’s long-established line of succession.

According to RadarOnline, royal biographer Robert Jobson made a surprising claim about Meghan Markle. He reported that she was shocked after visiting Prince William and Princess Catherine’s residence at Kensington Palace. At the time, Prince Harry lived in Nottingham Cottage, a modest two-bedroom home within the palace grounds. Meanwhile, William and Catherine occupied the much larger 20-room Apartment 1A.
In his book Catherine, The Princess of Wales, Jobson wrote that Meghan was “taken aback” by the difference between the brothers’ homes. He claimed she understood William was the heir to the throne. However, she reportedly believed Harry also deserved more because he was a prince. Jobson further alleged the housing difference became a source of frustration for Meghan. According to the author, she was “piqued by the disparity” after seeing the contrasting living arrangements.
Harry previously reflected on Nottingham Cottage in his 2023 memoir, “Spare.” He admitted he felt uneasy about introducing Meghan to the property during the early days of their relationship. “I was excited to welcome Meg to my home, but also embarrassed,” Harry wrote. He also described Nottingham Cottage by saying, “Nott Cott was no palace.”
Harry’s comments suggested he was aware of the contrast between his home and William’s residence. However, he did not attribute those feelings directly to Meghan. The latest claims about Meghan’s reaction come from Jobson’s account and have not been publicly confirmed by the Duchess of Sussex.
