DCU might get its Avengers: Age of Ultron-level event in 2027 with “Man of Tomorrow“ rather than a “Justice League” movie. The “Superman” sequel will hit theaters on July 9, 2027. The principal photography for “Man of Tomorrow” wrapped in August this year.
Stakes in Man of Tomorrow rumored to be as high as Avengers: Age of Ultron
A user on X (previously known as Twitter) claimed “Man of Tomorrow” might give the DCU its Age of Ultron-level event in 2027.
User James Mack wrote in a tweet, “I’d say Man of Tomorrow is the DCU’s Age of Ultron level event.” In another tweet, Mack said he has information about the movie’s script, writing: “I received a bunch of script details for Man of Tomorrow, they’re making an event movie without an established Justice League in the universe.”
After “Man of Tomorrow” was announced on September 3, 2025, director and DC co-CEO James Gunn clarified that the movie is not exactly a sequel to the 2025 “Superman”. Instead, he stated that David Corenswet’s Superman will play a major role in the movie.
Speaking about “Man of Tomorrow” during an interview with Variety, Gunn said, “At its core, it’s about Clark and Lex. I relate to both of them. I relate to Lex’s ambition and obsession — minus the murder. And I relate to Superman’s belief in people, his Midwestern values. They’re two sides of me.”
Moreover, he told Howard Stern during a chat that Corenswet’s Superman and Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor will team up against a bigger enemy in “Man of Tomorrow”. (via Men’s Journal) Apart from Corenswet and Hoult, the movie includes a major cast consisting of Rachel Brosnahan, Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, Aaron Pierre, Xolo Maridueña, Milly Alcock, Skyler Gisondo, Adria Arjona in a mysterious role, and many more.
