The world of Ted Lasso is stepping back onto the virtual pitch. EA Sports FC 27 is adding Coach Beard and AFC Richmond’s women’s team, the Lady Greyhounds, bringing a fresh twist to the game’s existing connection with the fictional club.
The announcement connects the game with the Apple TV comedy’s latest chapter, which follows Ted Lasso as he takes charge of the women’s football team. It also expands the show’s presence in EA Sports FC beyond the club’s familiar men’s squad.
EA Sports FC shared the news in a social media post and wrote, “Believe it. @TedLasso, Coach Beard and the Lady Greyhounds of AFC Richmond are bringing the belief, and the moves, to The World’s Game. Play your part in #FC27 today.”
Ted Lasso and AFC Richmond arrive across Career Mode and Ultimate Team
The crossover brings the show’s characters into two major parts of EA Sports FC 27: Manager Career Mode and Football Ultimate Team. Career Mode lets players take charge of AFC Richmond Women as Ted Lasso, featuring deep integration with social media stories, cutscenes, and touchline interactions, alongside themed challenges.
Football Ultimate Team lets players build squads using player items and complete objectives to unlock rewards such as kits, stadium cosmetics, manager items, and other customization options. Completing these objectives also contributes to overall Season Progress.
This is not the first time the fictional club has appeared in an EA football game. EA included AFC Richmond’s men’s team in FIFA 23, allowing players to bring the club into the game. The latest crossover shifts attention to the Lady Greyhounds, matching the direction of the show’s fourth season.
Apple TV’s official season description mentions that Ted returns to Richmond to coach a second-division women’s team. Season 4 premiered on August 5, 2026, bringing the story of Ted and his new squad to the screen. Now, the game crossover gives fans another way to engage with the team.
