Captain Lee Rosbach to Undergo ‘Big Surgery’ After Health Forced Below Deck Exit

Captain Lee Rosbach planned to bring fans along for a major medical procedure that he hoped would ease the physical problems that had affected him for years.

The former Below Deck captain said he is scheduled to undergo surgery on October 15. Rather than keeping the process private, Rosbach intended to document the hospital visit, medical consultations and recovery for a future 30-minute documentary.

Captain Lee says the procedure could take six hours as he seeks relief from back and leg problems

Rosbach said the operation was expected to take between four and six hours. He also revealed that the Captain Lee surgery would involve two separate stages, although he did not explain the exact medical procedure.

As per ENTERTAINMENTNOW, he described it simply as “big surgery” and said he hoped it would help him “get my life back to normal.”

Rosbach also planned an unusually detailed look at the experience for his followers.

“You’re going to ride with me to the hospital,” he said.

He expected cameras to capture his discussions with doctors and even provide access to the operating room.

“Yeah, you’re gonna be in the OR,” Rosbach said. “I wanted to take all of you on the same journey that I’m going to make.”

The 76-year-old intended to share new updates every two or three days. He later planned to combine the footage into a documentary lasting about 30 minutes.

The upcoming operation followed years of health issues involving Rosbach’s back and legs. Those problems previously became severe enough to interfere with his responsibilities on Below Deck.

During Season 10, Rosbach decided he could no longer continue working aboard the yacht. Captain Sandy Yawn temporarily stepped into his position during the remainder of the season.

Rosbach returned for the finale, but his departure eventually became permanent. Captain Kerry Titheradge later took over the role.

The Below Deck exit marked a major consequence of the physical problems Rosbach continued to manage after leaving the show.

His current goal centered on improving his everyday quality of life. The source did not state that the surgery would lead to his return to reality TV.

Rosbach instead focused on the October operation and the possibility of gaining relief from the back and leg problems that had already changed the course of his career.
