Below Deck’s Captain Sandy Offers Sympathy for Nathan Gallagher Amid Abuse Allegations

Captain Sandy Yawn is offering a measured response to Nathan Gallagher following his domestic violence case. The Below Deck Mediterranean star said Gallagher was now seeking help and trying to change. Her comments came after his arrest and subsequent conviction in Australia.

Captain Sandy Yawn says Nathan Gallagher has allegedly stopped drinking and is attending support meetings

Yawn discussed Gallagher’s situation during an October 13 interview with Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea. She said they had spoken about his struggles and the need for change. “Nathan struggles,” she explained.

Yawn said she had encouraged Gallagher to stop drinking and seek professional help. “We talk, and I encourage him to stop drinking and get help, and that’s what he’s doing right now,” she said. She added that he was attempting to make meaningful changes.

“He’s stopped drinking, he’s going to meetings and he’s trying to change his life,” Yawn revealed. Gallagher was arrested in Australia in December 2025. The case involved allegations of domestic violence against his former girlfriend, Gael Cameron.

According to court documents, Gallagher was convicted of assault causing actual bodily harm, choking, and common assault. The offenses were found proven at a September 1 hearing. Gallagher reportedly did not attend, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Documents alleged that Gallagher choked Cameron and covered her mouth and nose during an incident. The allegations also described an assault that allegedly caused pain and swelling. Gallagher reportedly denied choking Cameron, while the judge found the offenses proven.

Before the hearing, Gallagher addressed the allegations in an August interview with Rolling Stone. “I’m not claiming I was perfect. I wasn’t,” he said. He added, “I made mistakes and I will take responsibility for my own actions.”

“I don’t really want to comment on what happened [with Gallagher and Cameron] because I wasn’t there,” Yawn explained. She said she had only heard the details secondhand. Cameron later thanked supporters and said she was rebuilding her life with their young son.
