We’re not sure how intoxicated someone has to be to drive with a missing tire, let alone forget what their car looks like. A woman in Washington was caught allegedly driving recklessly while drunk before officers located her car and boxed her in at a gas station, as caught on dashcam video. While being detained, she incredulously asks the cops how they found her, despite her car being very difficult to miss.
Officers tell woman that her car was very “distinctive”
On August 5 at around 1:11 p.m., officers detained an unnamed female driver outside of an Arco gas station in response to several calls of a brown Chevy running red lights and going at high speeds with a missing tire, according to a post by the Vancouver Police Department on its official Facebook page.
Dashcam video and bodycam footage show the woman attempting to pull out of a gas station but is blocked by a patrol vehicle and then flanked by another police cruiser from behind. The officer tells the alleged drunk driver to turn off the car and to come out of the car with her hands in the air. She is then detained for reckless driving.
Several hours later, the woman is seen speaking with an officer while in the backseat of a police car. At first, she diminishes what she did when the cop tells her of the reports of her reckless driving. “They always say something,” she said, “but I was… probably going a little faster than 40, but I wasn’t you know.”
“How do you know? How do they even know who I am?” she asks.
“Well, they see your car,” the cop says.
“Well. How’d they get my license?” she responds.
“Well, your car is very distinctive,” the cop replies, “You are the only person I think I know that drives a brown-colored Chevy that has stickers and missing a tire.”
An image of the driver’s vehicle shows it missing a back-left tire. If that wasn’t distinctive enough, a line of pawprint stickers wraps around the car along its side, top, and hood.
The reel shows the woman being unwilling to let officers collect her blood for analysis, so she was taken to a local hospital where her blood was collected for toxicology testing.
The driver has been booked into the Clark County jail and charged with reckless driving, DUI, and obstruction.
