King Charles & Prince William Weren’t Warned About Charles Spencer’s Move — Source

King Charles and Prince William are reportedly shocked by Charles Spencer’s book on the late Princess Diana. For those unversed, Spencer has penned a memoir dedicated to his late sister. The book is titled Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, is out on September 22 and is already making news even before its official release. As per reports, Spencer has brutally attacked Charles and the royal family, especially pointing out their alleged mistreatment of Diana.

Sources reveal how King Charles and Prince William had no idea about the book

As per Rob Shuter, King Charles and Prince William were taken by surprise by Charles Spencer’s book on the late Princess Diana. Shuter said that Charles and William were not given any copies of the book in advance. Hence, they were surprised when publications like The Daily Mail carried shocking excerpts from the memoir.

The source explained that Charles and William did not receive any prior warning about the book. They, in fact, discovered some of the most “damaging” allegations alongside the general public. “For a book this personal, that was extraordinary,” the source added. To give a little context, The Daily Mail published an excerpt in which Spencer discussed his tense phone call with his former brother-in-law, Charles, over Diana’s funeral preparations.

Spencer revealed how Charles continuously berated him over the phone and then stopped. Diana’s late brother revealed that Charles reportedly retorted over the phone, stating: “Rest assured, we’ll forget her soon enough!” Spencer shared that he was stunned by Charles’ reaction and couldn’t believe he would say something so harsh about his late wife. As per Shuter, Buckingham Palace immediately issued a response, and the urgency of it seemed unnatural.

Buckingham Palace said in its statement that the palace does not comment on books. “His Majesty is mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and color memory in ways others do not recognize, even many years after such a loss,” the statement concluded. Furthermore, sources allege to Shuter that it is unfair not to keep William, Diana’s oldest son, in the loop about the book.
