Ferrer addressed the breakup in a Valentina Ferrer Instagram Story on September 16.
“After sharing so many years and important moments together, José and I have decided to take separate paths,” she wrote.

The model referred to Balvin by his full name, José Álvaro Osorio Balvín, and explained that the decision came with consideration for their family.
“Our split has been a decision made from love, respect and the desire to do what is best for our family,” Ferrer added.
She also made it clear that their son would remain their main focus.
“Our priority will continue to be always accompanying Río with all our love,” she said.
Balvin and Ferrer first met in 2017 while working together on the music video for “Sigo Extrañándote.”
Their relationship developed soon afterward, and the pair later welcomed Río in June 2021.
Ferrer kept the tone of her announcement calm and asked people to respect their privacy as they adjusted to the change.
“We are going through this process calmly and deeply appreciate the understanding and respect toward this very personal moment for us,” she wrote.
The announcement brought the J Balvin 10-year relationship close to an end after years together both personally and as parents.
Ferrer did not point to any specific reason for the breakup beyond saying that the two had chosen different paths.
At the time of the announcement, J Balvin had not publicly commented on the split.
For now, Ferrer’s message suggested that both she and Balvin remained focused on handling the separation privately and continuing to support Río together.
