Aaron Phypers faced another costly development in his divorce from Denise Richards. A Los Angeles court ordered him to pay Richards more than $25,000 in sanctions. The ruling marked another development in their ongoing divorce proceedings and added to the financial disputes surrounding the case.
Aaron Phypers ordered to pay Denise Richards more than $25K in sanctions
According to Page Six, the court ordered Phypers to pay Richards a total of $25,762. The first penalty came after he failed to properly answer written questions from Richards’ legal team. The court ordered him to pay $10,987 in sanctions over the discovery issue. The documents stemmed from a hearing at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles.
Richards also filed for a protective order on June 26. The two sides reached an agreement over that request in open court, according to court documents. The judge then ordered Phypers to pay Richards an additional $14,775 within 10 days. The filing did not indicate why the court imposed the additional sanction or disclose the terms of the agreement.
The court also left other discovery disputes unresolved. One motion sought to compel Phypers to respond to Richards’ first request for documents and other evidence. Judge Puente scheduled the matter for December 2 and instructed both sides to “meet and confer to resolve discovery disputes” before filing a joint statement. The court also scheduled another motion to compel for December 2 with the same instruction.
Phypers filed for divorce in July 2025 after nearly seven years of marriage. He cited irreconcilable differences in his filing. The latest sanctions came as the former couple continued to resolve disputes in court, while their divorce remained pending.
