Luke Grimes has finally addressed the question Yellowstone fans keep asking. Will Kayce Dutton ever share the screen with Beth again? The Marshals star says he and Kelly Reilly want it to happen.
Luke Grimes discusses Kayce Dutton’s future after Yellowstone
Luke Grimes leads Marshals while Kelly Reilly headlines Dutton Ranch on Paramount Network and Paramount+. The two actors have traded messages about merging their shows, and both agree the idea makes sense. “It’s not out of the question that we might have some sort of crossover at some point,” Luke Grimes told TV Insider. “Beth’s basically Kayce’s only living family member other than Tate. It would make sense that down the line we’d at least talk,” he added.
The actor went further, revealing that he and Reilly see a reunion as more than fan service. “[Kelly and I have] texted about it back and forth a lot, talked about how it’d be fun and necessary for our story arcs, however they’re going to end,” he said.
Reilly has pushed for the same thing. After the Dutton Ranch Season 1 finale, she told TV Insider that Beth misses her brother and that she and Cole Hauser keep fighting to bring former cast members back into the fold. For now, Kayce has other problems.
Marshals Season 2 releases on October 4 on CBS and centers on his frantic search for Tate. Rancher Tom Weaver kidnapped the boy in the Season 1 finale, hoping to strip Kayce of the last piece of the Dutton Ranch he still calls home. That premise leaves little room for a Beth cameo this season, and Grimes confirms none is coming. Still, his comments keep the door open, and they arrive as Dutton Ranch Season 2 takes shape in Texas, where Beth and Rip battle for their own kidnapped son, Carter.
Both shows now build toward uncertain futures, which may explain why Grimes frames a crossover as a necessity rather than a possibility. Kayce has lost his wife, his father, and most of his siblings. Beth remains one of the few Duttons left standing.
