The Pitt is inspiring a whole new show. HBO Max is bringing a new French drama inspired by its success. The new project isn’t a spin-off, but its premise matches the Emmy-winning series. It was unveiled at La Rochelle Fiction Festival in France.
As reported by Deadline, HBO Max has announced Rush (working title), a medical drama set in Paris. The series will follow a close-knit group of mobile medical teams responding to emergencies across the city. Their calls will take them to streets, metro cars, private homes and major landmarks.
The project arrives as HBO Max looks to build on the global success of The Pitt. The timing could appeal to viewers who want another fast-paced medical drama after the show’s recent Emmy wins. However, it may disappoint those hoping for more stories from the original show itself.
Earlier this year, HBO Max content boss Sarah Aubrey explained that the company wanted to recreate The Pitt’s success in other markets. Speaking at Series Mania, she said, “To me that’s the model to emulate: Take a genre and a set of characters audiences feel very familiar with and want in their homes every week, and overlay that with a creator who is really excited to tell a specific story authentically.”
The Pitt is a major Emmy Awards winner for HBO Max
The new French series arrives after The Pitt won Outstanding Drama Series at the 2026 Emmy Awards, while Noah Wyle won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
The Television Academy now lists 11 Emmy wins for The Pitt across its two award-winning seasons. Its 2026 wins also included Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series, Outstanding Guest Actor, and Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup.
HBO Max is also developing Bodycam in France, a thriller about two police officers who try to conceal evidence after shooting an unarmed teenager.
