King Charles and Prince William have reportedly jointly agreed on one aspect regarding Prince Harry’s royal status. The Sussexes flew privately from California to Birmingham on August 26 and intend to stay in the UK for an extended period of time. However, only a few days after the Sussexes returned, King Charles issued a letter via Lord Chamberlain, stating that Harry and Meghan will remain “private citizens.”
King Charles and William agree the Sussexes will not represent the royal family, claims expert
King Charles and Prince William stand unanimous on their decision not to let Prince Harry and Meghan Markle back into the royal fold. Royal author Russell Myers dished to PEOPLE that the king and the future king “are completely united on the Sussexes not representing the royal family.”
Myers explained that there is absolutely no doubt about the fact that they are completely in “sync” with each other regarding this matter. Additionally, the letter also clarified that they will not be able to carry out royal engagements or use royal titles – His or Her Royal Highness.
Harry and Meghan’s spokesperson released a statement, stating that they “were a little surprised not to have been told about this in advance.” As per the outlet, the couple was informed a little over an hour before the royal palace released the statement to the media. The Sussexes seemingly did not have enough time to process the information and react to it.
Interestingly, as per a scoop by Rob Shuter, Charles issued the letter upon William’s insistence. When Harry and Meghan finally shifted back to the UK, there was incessant chatter that they would rejoin the royal firm. However, King Charles’ letter put any lingering doubts to rest. As per Rob Shuter, the Prince of Wales did not want any doubt or confusion. “William’s answer was brutally simple: nothing has changed. They are out.” Sources dished to Shuter that Harry and Meghan were “stung”. Moreover, they realized that they had underestimated the future king’s prowess and influence upon Charles.
