Floyd Mayweather’s daughter Iyanna “Yaya” Mayweather faces a massive financial judgment tied to a 2020 stabbing case. The ruling puts a long-standing legal matter back in the spotlight. It also puts the focus on the serious injuries Lapattra Jacobs says she suffered. A Texas court has now set the amount at more than $50 million.
Yaya Mayweather’s 2020 stabbing case has resulted in a judgment topping $50 million
According to TMZ, court documents show a Texas judge awarded Jacobs $40,105,000 in compensatory damages. The court also added $10 million in exemplary damages, bringing the total to $50,105,000.
The compensatory covers over $8 million for past medical bills, pain, physical limitations, and lost earning ability. An additional $32 million is for future damages associated with those same categories.
In addition, the court added an extra $10 million after finding that Mayweather’s conduct involved “an extreme degree of risk.” The ruling also said her conduct “constituted aggravated assault involving the use of a deadly weapon.” Those findings relate to the 2020 incident involving Jacobs and rapper NBA YoungBoy. Jacobs later filed a civil lawsuit over the injuries she says she suffered.
Mayweather faced criminal charges after police arrested her in 2020. She attacked Jacobs with two knives in a fight at Jacobs’ residence, authorities said. Police found Jacobs on the floor, and she went to a hospital for treatment. YoungBoy remained at home when the stabbing happened, according to the report.
Jacobs initially included YoungBoy in her lawsuit, but her claims against him did not reach trial. Floyd Mayweather’s daughter was later convicted of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and sentenced to six years’ probation. Jacobs has claimed that Mayweather caused her to suffer severe injuries. The new civil judgment adds a major financial consequence to a case that began more than six years ago.
