Prince Harry Gets Unexpected Help From King Charles After Major Setback

King Charles reportedly intervened after Uganda withdrew from Prince Harry‘s Invictus Games. While the monarch was “moved” by the country’s loyalty, he also clarified that he had no problem with its participation. The news comes after a report suggested that Harry appeared to have placed the blame on Charles. They believed that his guidance letter may have contributed to Uganda’s earlier decision.

King Charles’ intervention prompts Uganda to reverse its Invictus Games withdrawal

Chris Magezi, the spokesperson for Uganda People’s Defence Forces, said that King Charles’ top adviser encouraged the CDF to move forward with the UPDF’s participation in the games on a phone call. He took to X to share their renewed decision and appreciated the Palace for providing clarity surrounding Prince Harry and the Invictus Games.

He shared, “The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has approved UPDF participation in the upcoming Invictus Games next year in Birmingham, United Kingdom. The decision follows a telephone conversation between General Kainerugaba and the Principal Private Secretary to His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen of the United Kingdom, the Right Honourable Sir Clive Alderton K.C.V.O.”

Earlier, a source close to Harry claimed that the Lord Chamberlain, the most senior courtier in the Royal Household, stance on the Sussexes’ ties to the Royal Family may have contributed to Uganda’s withdrawal decision. They said to The Telegraph, “Intended or unintended, this is clearly a consequence of the Lord Chamberlain’s guidance regarding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, that was rushed out without consultation on Monday.”

The guidance clarified that the Sussexes are private individuals and their charitable work is personal and not associated with the Royal Family. Furthermore, it’s learned that they received the letter over an hour after it was made public. Meghan and Harry particularly took issue with the word “private individuals,” as they preferred being called public figures. This has reportedly escalated tensions between the Sussexes and Buckingham Palace.
