Gary Oldman’s spy series has reached a milestone almost unheard of. The acclaimed show reached a rare Rotten Tomatoes milestone ahead of its return to Apple TV. Ahead of the September 16 premiere, Slow Horses Season 6 has already attracted plenty of attention from critics.
As of writing, Slow Horses Season 6 currently has a perfect 100% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes from early reviews. However, the Popcornmeter scores aren’t showing yet. The new season continues the show’s strong run with critics, who have praised its mix of dark humor, sharp writing, and fast-paced spy drama.
Some early reviews have even called it one of the show’s strongest seasons yet. With an overall series average sitting at 97-98% and five seasons already behind it, the latest score adds to Slow Horses’ reputation as one of the most consistently well-reviewed shows on streaming.
What is Slow Horses Season 6 about?
Based on two of Mick Herron’s novels, Joe Country and Slough House, Season 6 follows Jackson Lamb and his team of disgraced MI5 agents as they become caught in a dangerous fight within the intelligence service.
Diana Taverner’s actions had the Slough House team in the middle of a deadly conflict that involves revenge and internal politics. Things quickly worsened and forced the group to go on the run while being hunted by their own agency.
The new season also brings back Olivia Cooke’s Sid Baker. Known best for her role in House of the Dragon, the MI6 agent was believed to have died after being shot in the head during the first season.
Oldman returns as the foul-mouthed Jackson Lamb, alongside Jack Lowden, Kristin Scott Thomas, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, and Christopher Chung. BAFTA-winning actor Lenny Rush also joins the cast this season.
Slow Horses Season 6 will have six episodes. The season premieres globally on Apple TV on September 16, with new episodes released weekly until October 21.
