Leslie Bibb is set to star in and executive produce a new HBO show. This would mark Bibb’s third project with the network. Moreover, a huge Star Trek name is attached to the upcoming project, which is based on a true story.
According to Deadline, Bibb will appear in HBO’s new show, The Rush Whisperer, currently in development at the studio. This will extend her streak with the streamer, as she previously headlined Season 3 of The White Lotus and guest-starred in Hacks.
The Rush Whisperer is co-written by the Star Trek: Lower Decks writer and producer Grace Parra Janney. Kelly Hutchinson also co-wrote the project and is best known for works like Dead to Me and Palm Royale. According to the report, the upcoming show is described as a dark comedy set in the cutthroat world of sorority recruitment.
The true story that turned sorority rush into HBO’s next dark comedy
The project is based on a true story told in an article by Grey Battle, published in The Cut on August 8, 2025. The article titled “How Much Would You Pay for Friendship? Private rush coaches are selling teens the sorority dream,” explores the expensive industry of private sorority rush consultants who coach wealthy teens through recruitment processes.
The story follows Gracie, a woman from New York who wanted to join a sorority at a university in the South. Since she knew little about the highly competitive recruitment processes, her mother hired Trisha Addicks, a professional “rush coach.”
Addicks coaches young girls on how to present themselves by posting the right images on social media and choosing appropriate attire and makeup, among other things. Ultimately, the coach advises young women to create an image that a sorority would want, rather than being themselves.
Kristen Campo, Daniel Simon, Scoop Wasserstein, Hutchinson, and Janney will also executive-produce the HBO show alongside Bibb. Meanwhile, Grey Battle will serve as a consulting producer on the adaptation.
