FX Networks has released the first official trailer for American Horror Story: 13. It’s an Avengers-style crossover pulling together characters from across the anthology’s history. The footage teases chaos, dark mysteries, and returning favorites like John Waters and Jessica Lange.
Jessica Lange is back as Constance Langdon from Murder House, her first appearance on the show since 2018. Moreover, she is set to play all four of her most iconic AHS roles in the new season.
Filmmaker John Waters also makes his debut in the upcoming installment as Mr. Phibes, appearing in a blood-covered white suit while holding a knife in the preview. It also welcomes newcomers Joey Pollari and Paul Anthony Kelly.

What happens in the new American Horror Story: 13 trailer?
The 131-second trailer opens with Lange’s Elsa Mars from Freak Show welcoming the audience to the “greatest show on Earth.” Then it shows Evan Peters’ serial-killer role as James March saying, “It’s witch-hunting season.”
Later, Cordelia Goode from Coven (Sarah Paulson) is seen terrified, sensing an ominous threat approaching the witches. She says, “Something wicked this way comes.” In one scene, John Waters’ Mr. Phibes describes the season’s number as “13 stands for instability, chaos.” The trailer then introduces more returning characters in a montage.
Twisty the Clown, played by John Carroll Lynch, and Peters’ Rubber Man also appear, pulling together characters from Murder House, Coven, Cult, and Freak Show into a single plot. Angela Bassett’s Marie Laveau and Emma Roberts’ Madison Montgomery show up as well, alongside Kai Anderson.
Season creator Ryan Murphy, speaking with ET, has described the new season as something bigger than a single-story reveal. He compared the crossover to the Avengers, saying the characters “come together to defeat the ultimate evil.”
American Horror Story: 13 consists of 13 half-hour episodes, premiering on September 24, 2026 on FX and Hulu.
